Where should I go if I am sick, hurt or need mental health support?

It is important to know where to go for assistance when you or your loved ones need it. We're here to help.

This page provides helpful information on where to seek care for common illnesses, injuries, and mental health concerns if your family doctor or health care provider is not available.

For common and minor medical concerns that are not an emergency or urgent.

Urgent Care

Urgent Care Centres are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to address urgent but not life-threatening health concerns.

Emergency

If you are experiencing a life-threatening injury or illness, call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department.

Virtual Care

Virtual care provides health-care services remotely through digital technologies, allowing patients to consult with health-care providers via video calls, phone calls, or online messaging in their home.

What services can be provided remotely?

  • Requests for prescription refills (for non-controlled medications) in between visits with your primary doctor.
  • Requests for medical advice when your primary doctor or nurse practitioner is unavailable.

Mental Health Services & Supports

The Mental Health and Wellness Resource Finder provides a number of mental health, wellness and addictions supports and resources for you and those you care about.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call the Youth Mental Health Crisis Line (18 and under) at 204-949-4777, the Adult Mental Health Crisis Line (over 18) at 204-940-1781, or visit Crisis Services for more support options.

If the person will attend VOLUNTARILY: Call the Mobile Crisis Service at 204-940-1781 or go to the Crisis Response Centre at 817 Bannatyne Ave.

If the person is NOT VOLUNTARILY getting help: Call 911 or visit an Emergency Department.
